Nurses
Our experienced, friendly and enthusiastic team of nurses, Sandra, Jenny, Kirsty, Tracey, Debbie, Laura, Michelle and Lisa share responsibility for looking after the four dentists' and the hygienist's surgeries. The role of the Dental Nurse in the running of the surgery is absolutely crucial, not only to the smooth execution of dental procedures, but also to help you to feel at ease in what many people find a strange environment. Please always feel free to tell the nurse if you have any needs or worries.
Did you know....
..... that Dental Nurses have their own Association?
It is the British Association of Dental Nurses and it represents the interests of all dental nurses in the various British dental organisations.
Qualifications and Role
All our Dental Nurses either hold the British Dental Nurses Certificate or are in training for it. Highly trained, they are responsible for carrying out all the vital cross infection control procedures in the practice. In each surgery, the nurse is responsible for having to hand all the instruments and materials required by the dentist for each procedure, mixing and passing materials when required. She looks after your needs and comfort whilst you are in the surgery. The dental nurse in attendance also plays an important role in entering information into the clinical records on the practice dental computer system, and helping the dentist to record treatment needed or carried out.
The nurse liaises with the receptionists - especially when special appointment needs arise - and with the laboratory, preparing work to be given to the dental technician.
Like the dentist, his regular nurse soon gets to know regular patients visiting the practice and it is one of the pleasures of our work seeing you regularly and getting to know your needs and preferences. We look forward to meeting you.
