Treatments and Consultations

We offer consultations for advice, an opinion, a diagnosis or treatment planning. We offer a full range of treatments for all your oral health problems. These may range from simple advice and counselling, help with apprehension (nervousness), through periodontal (gum) treatment, basic fillings, cosmetic work, crowns, overlays and veneers, to fixed and removable bridges, dentures and implants. We also offer orthodontic services (for children and adults), surgical services and a referral service.

Your Oral Examination

Whatever your reason for consulting us your oral exmination, in many ways, is the most important element in your dental care for this is when the strategic and treatment planning decisions are taken.

It will include examination of your face, neck and mouth which is much more than an examination of your teeth. It involves screening for signs of gum diseases and other conditions including oral cancer and many other disorders that may first become evident in the mouth. Symptoms may also call for examination of the temporo-manfibular (jaw) joints, and muscles of the head and neck.

Most importantly, the consultation provides an opportunity for you to ask questions and express your own preferences and wishes. It provides the opportunity for the dentist to explain the various options to you with their pros and cons. If there are significant or complex problems, especially if you haven't been to the practice before, or for some time, quite extensive examination and assessment procedures may be required so that the consultation process could extend over more than one visit.

In a sense this consultation process never ends for it is renewable at every visit, especially when you return for a routine check-up.
