Your Dentist

Four friends sharing an enthusiasm for dentistry have come together to form an expanded partnership in The Holt Dental Practice.

Between them, the partners share interests in all areas of dentistry, with an emphasis on overall care of patients from infancy to old age based on prevention. Three of the partners are examiners for higher diplomas at the Royal College of Surgeons and are active as tutors, advisers and lecturers and trainers in the East Anglia Region, nationally, and even overseas.

Kevin Churchyard

Kevin obtained a place at the University of London to study Dentistry at the age of 24, commencing with a 1st MB at St Bartholomew's Hospital and then moving to the Royal Dental Hospital to complete his dental training. He was awarded both a BDS and LDSRCS in 1985, thereby becoming the fourth generation of his family to qualify in the dental profession. He is currently studying for the MFGDP examination and hopes to progress to MGDS next year.

He gained early experience in Blackheath, London working for Huw Davis (the Maxillo-Facial consultant in Ipswich) then returned to Norfolk and practised in Sheringham and Norwich for the next 10 years, joining the Holt Dental Practice in 1998. Kevin's special interest in dentistry is Endodontics (Root Canal Work), and he is a member of the British Endodontic Society, regularly attending their conferences. Dan Earp

Dan graduated in 1979 from University College Hospital, London' with distinction in Dental Surgery. He joined The Holt Dental Practice in 1980 and played a leading role in assembling our present strong professional team.

Dan gained his MGDS (Membership in General Dental Surgery) diploma in 1991. As well as serving a full 9 year term as MFGDP examiner he has served on both Regional and National Faculty Boards of the Royal College of Surgeons in London. For over 20 years he has run study days on treatment planning and preventive dentistry for the young dentists in Regional Vocational Training schemes. He is General Professional Training Adviser for East Anglia, a member of the Local Dental Committee and representative to the local PCT.

Dan bases his approach to dentistry on prevention and involving patients in well informed treatment planning decisions. He enjoys the involvement in all different aspects of dental care that general practice offers. more......

Vernon Holt

Vernon went to Guy's Hospital with a State Scholarship and was awarded an Honours Degree with Distinction in Pharmacology and Therapeutics. He practised in Norwich between 1971 and 2000 and joined the Holt Dental Practice as a full partner in August 2000.

Vernon obtained his MGDS diploma in 1990 and was elected President of the British Society for General Dental Surgery 1997/98. He was appointed a founder Assessor for a new Fellowship diploma which he was himself awarded in 1998 and has recently been appointed Deputy Chairman of the Board of Assessors for the Fellowship in General Dental Practice of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

He enjoys the care of patients of all ages and has a particular interest in the problems that often appear in the more mature patient such as gum conditions and restoration of badly worn or broken teeth. more......

Brent Weller

Brent joined the Holt Dental Practice in 1996. He graduated Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the Royal London Hospital in 1980 and then, following a year in a London Practice, he joined the RAF, serving 16 years all over the World including Germany, The British Embassy in Moscow, the Shetland Islands, 3 RAF Hospitals, The Gulf War and in Borneo.

During his time in the RAF he spent a year at the Eastman Hospital in London gaining a Master of Science Degree in Prosthetic Dentistry and in August 2000 was accepted by the General Dental Council as one of the first Specialists in Prosthodontics within the government's new regulations for registration and is one of the very few specialists in East Anglia. He is especially interested in dental implants and has recently been nominated as Chairman of MGDS Examiners for the Royal College of Surgeons. more.......
